Leader in Passwordless Orchestration Brings Extensive Experience, Understanding of Enterprise Authentication Requirements, to Help Strengthen FIDO Deployments

Santa Clara, CA  — February 1, 2023 —  Axiad, a leading provider of organization-wide passwordless orchestration, today announced it has been appointed to the FIDO Alliance Board of Directors.  Karen Larson, Axiad’s Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships and Alliances will serve as Axiad’s Primary Board Delegate.

As identity-based attacks escalate, with 84% of organizations experiencing an attack in the last year alone, moving to passwordless has become a priority for IT leaders.  The FIDO Alliance developed the FIDO passwordless authentication standard to address the lack of interoperability among strong authentication technologies, and to eliminate the security issues caused by using passwords.

“FIDO authentication is the future of passwordless, and Axiad is deeply committed to helping expand its adoption within the enterprise and public sector,” said Bassam Al-Khalidi, Axiad Founder and Co-CEO.  “The reality is that today’s organizations must support a complex mix of authentication requirements, including multiple use cases, IAM systems and regulatory environments.  Our goal is to help extend the reach, usability and security of FIDO authentication to organizations that want to move to a passwordless future, but also need the control to meet all of their authentication requirements today.”

In her new role as a FIDO Alliance Board Member, Larson will help set direction for the alliance focused specifically on the authentication needs of the enterprise and public sector.

Axiad brings a wide range of experience solving authentication challenges within the public sector and highly regulated companies across the Fortune 500.  The company’s integrated authentication solution, Axiad Cloud, helps organizations move to a passwordless model without the friction and risk of fragmented solutions. It supports the full range of authentication methods found in today’s organizations, from mobile push authenticators to PKI, as well as the framework to transition to emerging FIDO-based authentication such as passkeys.

“Axiad offers an important perspective and expertise regarding the real-world authentication requirements of enterprise and public sector environments,” said Christina Hulka, Executive Director and COO of the FIDO Alliance. “We look forward to Karen’s contributions as a FIDO Alliance Board Member in our ongoing efforts to help enterprises, particularly in highly regulated industries as well as the public sector, move to adopt a passwordless standard in the future.”
